Head Coach

Coaches in the Competitive Programme must be prepared to dedicate a significant amount of their time for the betterment of their team. Ontario Basketball regulations mandate specific items and the KIBC enhances that direction with additional requirements. All are designed to ensure that the players have a rewarding experience in this demanding program.

Coaches will be expected to be able to do the following:

  1. Complete an application/information sheet for Club records and for use by the Directors of Competitive and Player/Coaching Development.
  2. Provide a completed CPIC prior to becoming involved with their assigned team.
  3. Have completed coaching certification to the proper level, or have a clear plan in place to obtain before beginning of season.
  4. Be prepared to conduct a minimum of two practices per week.
  5. Be prepared to participate in a minimum of four tournaments, including own hosted tournament (see below).
  6. Be responsible for providing a safe and positive basketball exeperience for all players selected to their team.
  7. Support and help coordinate fundraising activities mandated by the club.
  8. Maintain your own team budget (based on Club policies) and live within it.

Assistant Coach

Assistant coaches may not have as much time to dedicate as head coaches and therefore their contributions are subject to a mutually agreed upon arrangement with the head coach of the team. That said, as a minimum, they are expected to be able to do the following:

  1. Complete an application/information sheet for Club records and for use by the Director of Coaching Development.
  2. Provide a completed CPIC prior to becoming involved with their assigned team.
  3. Have completed coaching certification to the proper level, or have a clear plan in place to obtain before beginning of season.
  4. Work with the Head Coach to provide a safe and and positive basketball experience for all players selected to their team.
