Kingston Impact Concussion Protocol

Introduced in 2015-2016, the Kingston Impact adopted the KASSAA concussion protocol to protect not only our players but also make things easier for our coaches and parents.

Following a blow to the head, face or neck, or a blow to the body that transmits a force to the head coaches must follow the process described in KASSAA's Concussion Management Procedures.

Here is a link to the Tool to Identify a Suspected Concussion.

Please consider the "School Contact" as the coach or team representative. Any reference to the "School Principal" for our purposes means the Head Coach.

Each team should carry a couple of paper copies of the "Tool" at all times as well as a copy of the Concussion Management Procedures.

Even if a player and parent says they are "fine", a coach must think of the player's long term well being first. If they suspect any sort of concussion, they must keep the athlete off the court and ensure that the player follows the full concussion management procedures before allowing them to participate in any sort of physical activity.
