Team Lynn wraps up season with silver at Ontario Cup
April 28, 2017 - The Kingston Impact Major Bantam girls (Lynn) had a great finale to their season.
Nervous going into their first game after a long day of travel, the first half of game 1 was a little sluggish. But the girls battled out a 6 point win over Ancaster in a low scoring affair.
With some confidence behind them the girls came out strong on Saturday against a very tall and althletic team from Milton. Some solid post defense and the ability to adjust after half time had the girls go on to a convincing 11 point win.
The 3rd game against Huntsville was anticipated to be an intense rematch against a team they defeated in overtime earlier in the year. But unfortunatley for Hunstville they had injuries to contend with and Kingston played well to take a 15 point win.
Going into the gold medal match you could tell that the girls were very nervous. The first half was full of turnovers that were not committed in earlier matches. The girls were down at half, but went on a 7 - 0 run to start the first minute of the second half and took the lead. From there it became a very back and forth game, but in the end Oxford came out on top with some great 3 point shooting to win the game by 3.
A great season and weekend where the girls did a solid job of showing great competitiveness and character.
