Who is "Good Enough" to Play Competitive?

Our experience is that some players shy away because they feel that they are not good enough to make a competitive team. More often than not, they are being overly critical of their chances. We would offer the following comments:

  • Remember that we are trying to form more than one team at each age category, so there are lots of spots.
  • Coaches look for many things, including attitude and athleticism, in addition to basic basketball skills. Skills can be learned.
  • If you play for a school team or are amongst the best on your house league team, you certainly have a good chance to make a competitive team.

So, give it a try!

Tryouts

Competitive Boys Tryouts 2011-2012

Information

The Kingston Impact will be holding tryouts for our Senior Boys teams over the last 2 Sundays in January 2012. Our goal is to form at least the following:

  • 2 Junior Boys teams (born 1993 or younger)
  • 3 Major Midget/Midget teams (born 1996 or younger)

If we have sufficient players, we will do our best to accommodate more teams but that decision will not be made until tryouts are completed.

For the first tryout, please bring the following items:

  • Completed and Signed Competitive Registration Form
  • Tryout fee (paid once):
    • $10 if you bring an Impact Reversible to wear.
    • $25 if you do not have one with you. For the extra $15 your will receive a new reversible. Note: this is a one time fee. You do not have to pay for both sessions.
  • $100 cheque made out to "Kingston Impact Basketball Club" dated Sept 26, 2011. This will only be deposited if the player makes and accepts a position on a team.
  • Shoes/shorts - whatever you need to play your best.

Following the tryouts all players will be notified by telephone as to their standing. Upon receiving an offer, a player (and parent/guardian) has 48 hours to decide whether or not to accept. On acceptance the $100 deposit is non refundable.
