House League Divisions

House League Divisions for 2011

Little Guys and Gals, Novice, Atom and Bantam will each have an End of Season Tournament.

Little Guys & Gals [Born 2004-2005]

  • 60 min session
  • 8 ft. baskets
  • Coaches referee to control traveling, double dribbling, out of bounds and fouling with explanation and predominately without penalty.
  • No score is kept.
  • Boys and Girls will play together.
  • Fun drills & games with/without basketball developing fundamental movement skills
  • Teams will be formed weekly
  • Encourage involvement from all (different players bringing ball up court)

Novice Boys [Born 2002-2003] & Girls [Born 2001-2003]

  • Fun drills & games with/without basketball developing fundamental movement skills (45 min)
  • 40 min. basketball game with 4 on 4 per shift consisting of ten 4 min. shifts per game
  • No score kept
  • 9 ft. baskets
  • Half court drop back rule upon securing defensive possession
  • Ball can be awarded back to violating player while reinforcing correction
  • Fouls are possession only
  • Encourage involvement from all (different players bringing ball up court)
  • Coaches to referee

Atom Boys [Born 2000-2001]

  • Fun drills with & without basketball developing more basketball specific skills 45 min
  • 40 min. basketball game with 4 on 4 per shift consisting of ten 4 min. shifts per game
  • No score kept
  • Regulation height baskets
  • Set teams from evaluation
  • Half court drop back rule upon securing defensive possession
  • Call violations, penalize & work to reduce
  • Fouls are possession only
  • Encourage involvement from all (different players bringing ball up court)
  • Student convenors referee

Bantam Boys [Born 1998-1999] & Girls [Born 1998-1999-2000]

  • Fun drills with & without basketball developing more basketball specific skills 30 min
  • 48 min. basketball game with 4 on 4 per shift consisting of twelve 4 min. shifts per game
  • Score kept but not individual points or fouls / player fouling continually to gain advantage - coach to address
  • Cross court baskets set at regulation height utilizing both courts
  • Set teams from evaluation
  • Call violations, penalize & work to reduce
  • Modified rules
    • Timing is twelve x 4 min. shifts 6 per half
    • Stop time on free throw only, last minute of half or injury
    • Jump ball alternates or goes to team losing by more than 10 points
    • Shooting fouls missed are 1 point + 1 for made free throw & shooting fouls made are 2 points + 1 for made free throw
    • All other fouls are possession only
  • Half court drop back rule upon securing defensive possession
  • Under emphasize the score & over emphasize the quality of play with practice skills applied
  • Will balance teams if lob sided attendance
  • Student convenors referee Bantam

Grad Boys & Girls [Born 1995-1997]

Targeted at High School age players that ARE NOT playing High School basketball.

  • Warm-up & game format only
  • 4 teams of 8-12 > 2 games each week
  • 32 min. Full court game – eight 4 min. shifts of 5 on 5
  • Modified rules
    • Timing is twelve x 4 min. shifts 6 per half
    • Stop time on free throw only, last minute of half or injury
    • Jump ball alternates or goes to team losing by more than 10 points
    • Shooting fouls missed are 1 point + 1 for made free throw & shooting fouls made are 2 points + 1 for made free throw
    • All other fouls are possession only
  • Score kept but not individual points or fouls / player fouling continually to gain advantage - coach to address
