Junior Boys #1 win bronze at Provincials D2
May 30, 2016 - The U-19 Men's Impact team coached by Scott Messon and Geoff Stewart, concluded a very successful season with a bronze metal winning game in Division 2 in Waterloo this past weekend.
The team participated in the new Ontario basketball league and finished with an 8 win 2 loss record with many very close games along the way.
They travelled to Ottawa and Mississauga this season also and competed with top level teams in the province, highlighted with an overtime win over Guelph who ended up winning gold at Division 1 this past weekend.
Going into the provincial tournament the team was the 8th seed and competed hard to first knock off 4th seated Cambridge in a come from behind win 68-60. The next game they came up against Ottawa Next Level Dimillo who previous twice had beaten Impact by more than 15 points. This proved to be an extremely exciting and hard fought game as the Next Level twice tied the game sending it into double overtime where they hit a buzzer beating 3 to win the game. Impact dispatched with Mississauga and headed to the Bronze metal game against a tough North Toronto team that had previously won over the Impact. Again another exciting, close battle and a last second offensive rebound by Isaac Sanderson secured a 50-48 win!
Congratulations to this close knit team and coaches on a fantastic season.
