Major Atom Girls Lynn win gold in Brockville
February 3, 2016 - Over the January 15-17 weekend, the Kingston Impact Major Atom Girls Lynn team captured Gold in the Brockville Stacey Dales tournament.
After winning their first three games comfortably, the girls went up against Nepean who they lost to in the Gold medal game in Ottawa back in December. Kingston went out to an early lead, outscoring Nepean 20 - 8. The second half was a different situation as Kingston began to miss open opportunities. However, their defense stayed strong and they went on to win by 3 points.
This past weekend the team traveled to York where they faced the home team in the opening of their tournament. After 3 hours of travel and a late 9 pm start, the Kingston girls showed their human side, playing very flat against the current #9 ranked team. Losing their first match took them out of gold medal game contention, but they went on to defeat Durham Central, lose a close 4 point game to Malton, and defeat Peterborough in their final game. The girls are just heading into the bulk of their season with lots of travel ahead. They are improving all the time and are representing their city in a great way!
Keep it up girls!
