Major Bantam Girls 1 win bronze
April 28, 2016 – Ranked 13th out of 80 team registered for this year's Ontario Basketball Provincial Cup and 5th in Division 2, the girls arrived in Brampton energized and ready to play. They blasted music in the change room as they prepared to take on the number one ranked team in the Division, the Windsor Valiants. The girls came out firing on all cylinders securing a 15 point lead going into the half. But the Valiants hit several 3 point shots and mounted a 20 point lead mid-way through the fourth quarter. The girls battled their hearts out but came up short (57-46).
The following day, the girls refocused and tipped-off against Chatam-Kent Basketball ( ranked 4th). The girls were fearless and battled with high intensity and tenacity. They transitioned extremely well and executed their defensive assignments with ease, and pulled off the win (41-36).
The last game of the day was against a feisty Northern Kings team ( ranked 8th). It was a stellar display of teamwork, resulting in a 47-31 win finishing second in their Pool.
The girls then faced KW Vipers ( ranked 7th ) in the Bronze medal game. KW had a several very talented players but the girls countered with relentless team defense, matched with very effective ball movement and communication, which translated into high scoring offence. The girls finished on a decisive 66-35 bronze medal win. They represented The Club with class, poise and respect and thoroughly enjoyed their weekend on and especially off the court.
Their coaches are incredibly proud of the effort, determination, and hard work displayed throughout the season by this fun group of young athletes, as well as their extremely engaged and supportive families.
