Major Bantam girls take silver in Durham
January 26, 2017 - Kingston Impact Major Bantam Girls earned silver this past weekend in Durham. Friday night the ladies faced a tough battle against the Woodbridge Lioness'. Tied 8-8 after the first quarter, the Impact settled down and went into half leading 26-15. Kingston took command in the second half, holding their opponents to 10 points in the third, and 2 points in the fourth quarter, en route to winning 56-27. Ella Pratt Vallier with 16 points and 5 rebounds, and Tegan Reynolds with 14 points and 6 rebounds led the way for the Impact.
Saturday saw two mismatched games, as Kingston defeated the Lindsay Wildcats and the Parry Sound Stingers in lopsided victories.
Sunday's games were much tougher affairs; first the Impact played a Sudbury Jam team that would not go away easily. Leading 21-14 at half, Kingston let Sudbury battle back, after three quarters the score was 31-27, and Sudbury had the momentum. Impact hung on in the fourth, making the final 46-36. Chloe Cole and Kennedy Joyce chipped in with some timely scoring, contributing 8 points each.
The final game featured the hosts Durham City Chameleons against the Kingston Impact. Impact got down 10-6 after 1, and trailed 24-13 at the half. The third quarter was much more even, and the fourth saw the Impact make a run, closing the gap to 38-32. It was a balanced scoring attack with 9 of 11 Impact players hitting the score sheet.
