Major Atom Boys win Gold at Hoopdome

February 7, 2017 - The Major Atom boys participated in the Hoopdome tournament in Toronto this past weekend winning the gold against some very tough competition.

Friday night they beat the South Windsor Warriors, 42-39. After their inconsistent performance against the Ottawa Shooting Stars on Saturday resulted in a two point loss, the boys bounced back, beating Peterborough 52-31.

This put them in the semifinal against the Burlington Force, the top team in the other pool.

A huge effort in overtime resulted in a 44-41 win.

In the final, the Etobicoke Thunder held a 22-11 lead at half, but the Impact fought back, tying it with 17 seconds left, and then scoring with 0.7 seconds left on the clock to earn the gold.

The team showed a ton of character in their final two games, earning tough wins against two teams currently ranked in the top 25 in the province.
