February 22, 2017 – Upon the recent passing of Jermaine Edwards, the Kingston Impact would like to pass on our condolences to the Edwards family and recognize the huge contribution he has made to the local Kingston basketball community.
Jermaine has positively impacted many young athletes, both girls and boys, in the competitive stream as well as recreational.
For the last 3 years he assisted on his sister’s Impact team where he was part of winning gold (2015) and silver (2016) medals at the OBA Provincials while also working with high school age boys' teams in the spring.
He took on many challenging situations with enthusiasm and a maturity beyond his years.
For "Coach Jermaine", it wasn't all about the game.
It was about learning life skills and making lifelong friends. To many he was like a big brother, warm and very understanding but also encouraging, trying to get the best out of his players.
He was one of those people that would go the extra mile to support anyone in need and did so often.
He will be greatly missed.
